Tōtika / Totika prequalification NZ
If a council, NZTA, Watercare, Wellington Water or another infrastructure buyer has asked for Tōtika or health and safety prequalification, start by confirming the exact requirement and your Tōtika category.
NZTA physical works prequalification guidance says contractors need current Tōtika registration before applying for NZTA prequalification. If you are preparing for NZTA physical works, check the current NZTA pack and your tender documents before choosing the assessment pathway.
Watercare supplier information has referenced Tōtika for construction works, maintenance and engineering services. Wellington Water says contractors and consultants must meet the Tōtika prequalification scheme standard and notes that Tōtika recognises SHE Pre-Qual assessments.
Councils including Hamilton, Gisborne, Western Bay of Plenty, Tauranga, Manawatū, Dunedin and Grey District publicly reference Tōtika, SHE Pre-Qual or accepted health and safety prequalification schemes in contractor requirements.
Some buyers ask specifically for Tōtika, some accept SHE Pre-Qual or other recognised schemes, and some have their own contractor approval process. Use the wording in your client request, tender pack or council instructions before registering.
